About SPDEV

I’m Steven. I build the software here.

SPDEV is my software development and technology consultancy in Belmopan, Belize. It’s how I work directly with business owners on websites, applications, and everyday processes that could use a little help.

Our approach

Small enough to work directly together

SPDEV is a software development and technology consultancy based in Belize. We work with businesses and organizations that need practical digital solutions — a website that actually converts, a system that replaces a pile of spreadsheets, or an app that gets built instead of just discussed. Most clients are here in Belize, but the work isn’t limited by geography — modern software lets SPDEV take on projects for businesses elsewhere too.

We’d rather ship something scoped and useful than something impressive on paper that never fits how a business actually operates. That means asking questions before proposing solutions, and being upfront when a project needs to be smaller — or bigger — than originally imagined.

Understand the business first

Before any design or code, we take the time to understand what the business actually does and where the friction is.

Build clean, maintainable software

Code that's easy to read and change is worth more long-term than code that's merely fast to write.

Take security seriously

Handling customer data, payments, or internal records means treating security as a requirement, not an afterthought.

Design for the long term

Software should be able to grow with a business — new features, more users, more data — without a rebuild.

Founder & Software Developer

I’m a software developer, and SPDEV is how I work directly with businesses in Belize on the kind of software and web projects that are often out of reach without a local, dedicated technology partner.

Alongside SPDEV, I work professionally on enterprise business applications — the databases, APIs, authentication, document generation, and system integrations that keep complex internal workflows running day to day. That’s where most of my hands-on experience with production software comes from, and it’s the standard SPDEV projects are held to: built to actually hold up under real usage, not just work in a demo.

I stay directly involved in scoping, designing, and building every SPDEV project. If a project needs specialized expertise outside what I cover myself, I bring in trusted specialists rather than stretch past what I can deliver well.

I’m particularly interested in taking messy, manual, real-world business problems — the kind involving spreadsheets, notebooks, and phone calls — and turning them into software people actually want to use.

Professional background

Some of that enterprise experience involves confidential systems that can’t be detailed publicly. You can find more about my background under Professional Experience on the Projects page, and the full career history is on LinkedIn.
